start with good ingredients. coffee is mostly water. water can affect taste greatly. use filtered or bottled water.
Heat the water to 200 degrees F. Our kettle has a hold feature, which is helpful for the easily distracted. Otherwise use water just off of boiling.
use good, fresh whole beans is you can. support your local roasters! we like Blue Bottle, Ritual, and Barefoot.
You want around 55 grams of coffee. It's best to fresh grind whole beans.
Course grind. Otherwise you may not be able to push the plunger down on the press.
Set your timer between 3:30 - 4:00 minutes. Start!
Add ground coffee to press, and fill half way with water. Give this 30 seconds to let the grounds expand.
After 30 seconds, stir to loosen the grounds and allow more surface contact with water. We have a small silicone spatula. You can use a spoon.
Fill the rest of the way with water. Put on the lid to help retain heat, but don't press yet.
when time is up, push down slowly but firmly. You should use 2 hands, but I needed 1 to take the photo!
